Medication Information: In some men with prostate cancer, the disease becomes malignant and the cancer cells spread to other parts of the body. The cancer has reached an advanced stage or a final stage at this stage. Standard treatments for this stage include hormone therapy, surgery, and chemotherapy. Until a few years ago, there were limited options for stopping an advanced prostate, and the available options were almost incurable. Abiratron has recently been added to these treatment options and could add three months to the life expectancy of men with advanced prostate cancer who have not responded to other treatments.
Abiratron belongs to a group of drugs called anti-androgen drugs. These drugs reduce male sex hormones (called androgens). In prostate cancer, androgens are produced by the testes, adrenal glands, and tumor cells. Abiratron reduces the amount of androgen produced by these substances, which in turn reduces the growth of cancer.
Abiratron is given with other medicines such as prednisone and prednisolone. These drugs eliminate the side effects of abiraterone.
Contraindications to Abiratron

Over time, your body will adjust to the new medication and these symptoms will go away, but if the following symptoms persist or become painful, consult your doctor.
