Bilastin Pharmacological Information

Medication Information: Alfalfa fever is caused by an allergy to pollen from flowers and trees. Common symptoms of hay fever include runny nose, itchy and stuffy nose, sneezing and watery eyes. These symptoms are caused by the immune system reacting to plant pollen. The cells lining the outer layer of the nose and eyes produce histamine when they come in contact with pollen. This condition causes inflammation in the nose (rhinitis) and eyes (conjunctivitis). In a similar way, contact with substances such as pet hair and insect bites can cause allergic reactions. Bilastin inhibits the effects of histamine and reduces allergy symptoms.

Contraindications to the use of the drug Bilastin

Tips to consider before taking Bilastin

Some medications can not be prescribed under certain conditions, and some medications may be prescribed if additional treatment is needed. Therefore, it is best for your doctor to be aware of the following before taking Bilastin:

  •  If you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
  • If you have porphyria (hereditary blood disease).
  •  If you are currently taking certain medications. These include all available medicines, whether prescribed or used by your doctor, such as herbal medicines and supplements.
  •  If you have ever been allergic to any medication.

Possible side effects of the drug Bilastin

All medications, along with their positive effects, can cause unwanted side effects in the body. However, these complications do not occur in all people. Over time, your body will adjust to the new medication and these symptoms will go away, but if the following symptoms persist or become painful, consult your doctor.

Drowsiness: Avoid driving and working with tools in this situation.

Headache: Ask your doctor to prescribe a suitable painkiller.

Talk to your doctor if you have any other symptoms that you feel may be due to the drug Bilastin.
