Introduction

One of the most common incidents and injuries at all ages, especially in children and teens who are very active, is that there is a lot of activity and scratching the knee. It will usually be easily treated and leaves no room for concern when a person hurts his knee due to falling and falling on the ground or other surfaces or rubbing and friction with textures and a red surface occurs on the skin surface of the knee. It usually does not cause severe injury and can be easily treated with home remedies. We can use various ways to get rid of the scratched knee infection of ourselves and those around us. It is better to read more to know more about these methods.

What should we do to deal with a scratched knee?

When you fall with your knee on the ground or a rough surface, or when you are rubbed on an uneven surface, you will experience a scratched knee. We will teach you how to treat the condition and the scraped knee.

First of all, you must wash your skin with soap and water. Remember that the skin is the first line of defense against bacteria and pathogens entering the body. When your skin is scratched, this level is disturbed, and it wounds and quickly passes all kinds of bacteria and infectious agents through it, so it is necessary to wash your hands. Washing your hands is done both in you and by the person responsible for treating your wounds, and Proper washing prevents infection in this area.

Now it's time to stop the bleeding if there is bleeding. Usually, the knee that gets scratched and worn will not bleed much. However, If the wound is bleeding and you are not healing on your own, applying pressure to the wound with a sterile gauze bandage is best.

After the bleeding stops, it is time to wash the scratched area. It is best to wash the scratched knee area with clean, flowing water. It is better not to use a pure soap that does not contain analgesic substances; for example, it does not use allergenic dyes for washing around. We recommend not using oxygenated water for rinsing as it may over-irritate the damaged wound tissue.

After washing the scratched area, it is time to remove the stuck objects inside the scratched tissue. The term used in these cases is called debridement. When you fall to the ground, and your knee is scratched, dirt and dust may be trapped in the scratch area. Debridement is the removal of these pieces from the wound tissue. It is said that a wound in these cases means debris does not generalize well. It is also more likely to get an infection, so removing these infections with a sterile cloth or sterile tweeze is best.

Now, if necessary, you can use an antibiotic ointment. It is said that after properly washing the wound, it is better to wash two knees with clean water and dry them than with an antibiotic ointment; for example, it contains bacitracin or Neosporin.

Do not forget that the person who puts these ointments on the weak area must be washed and clean their hands. The next step is to close the site if necessary. In these cases, nonstick bandages are usually used. This bandage should be such that it completely covers the wound. The wound bandage should be changed daily after washing the wound with normal saline serum.

But the next thing is that you must bandage the tissue until it heals so that the wound in the scratched area does not become infected. When removing the bandage, you should carefully monitor the signs and symptoms that can cause an infection in the wound. For example, redness around the damage that lasts for several days or redness and swelling that recurred after the redness and swelling had gone away. Also, if the wound that is warm to the touch has a discharge or smells terrible, Be sure to see your doctor if you notice one or more of the above observations.

Repairing scratched knee, when minor scratches occur on the skin in the front of the knee, your body's cells, the first of which is platelets, flow to the scratched area, and thus the wound healing process begins. Gold plaques are the first cells to reach the damaged area and stop the bleeding. On the other hand, in addition to coagulation and cessation of bleeding, platelets contain many growth and repair factors. With these factors, damaged tissue is repaired.

Tissue repair at the site begins with the same platelet factors. Usually, the center of the wound turns yellow when it starts to heal. This is a sign that the skin in the affected area is healing when there is a massive scratch so that all the skin in front of the knee is peeled off. This is when the healing begins at the edges of the wound.

Crusts on the scratched area are helpful and convenient things that protect the wound inside the body from entering pathogens and infections, so it is better to avoid digging them.

Signs and manifestations that refer to infection

In this section, we want to acquaint you with the signs of infection of the scratched knee. Scratches on the surface of the skin on the lower extremities are more likely to become infected, and it is best to check the scratched area daily for infection and follow the wound healing process. You should see your doctor if you notice signs and symptoms of severe disease.

Symptoms of infection include the following:

Existence of yellow discharge from the wound, swelling around the wound, severe and progressive pain that does not heal, worsening of redness around the wound, worsening of the swelling around it, red cracks around the affected area, and warmth of the site hurt.

Concluding remarks

We have to say that although scratching the knee is painful and uncomfortable, usually, scraping the knee will not be a severe injury. You should know that most of these injuries are treated well. You need to know what to do after the accident, including actions that can be briefly mentioned below.

The first step is to wash your own hands and the hands of the person who is treating the wound, flush the wound with clean water, wash the damage with clean water, and remove the waste and debris from the area of the scratched area. It is better to wash the wound with this step.

After this stage, it is better to wash the wound with plenty of water and, if possible, use sterile antibiotics as an ointment. Be sure to cover the affected area with non-stretch bandages. Be sure to change the application daily.

Monitor the wound healing process before each change and see if there are any signs of wound infection or not; rinse it with plenty of clean water or standard wash serum and close the bandage. Review the signs and symptoms of wound infection (listed above) again and be aware of these symptoms in your daily life. You should see a doctor immediately if any of these or more occur.
