Tocilizumab Drug Information

Tocilizumab is used alone or in combination with other medicines to treat moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis in adults or children (such as systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (SJIA), polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (PJIA)). Tocilizumbe is used to relieve pain and swelling caused by rheumatoid arthritis. Tocilizumab can also be used to treat reactions caused by some cancer therapies (Cytokine Release Syndrome (CRS)). Tocilizumab belongs to the class of interleukin-6 blocking drugs, which reduce inflammation by blocking IL-6 (a substance made by the body that causes swelling (inflammation)).

 

The correct amount and method of taking Tocilizumab

The dose and amount of Tocilizumab varies from person to person; Use the medicine exactly as your doctor advised.

It is injected intravenously (within 1 hour) under the supervision of a physician (every 4 weeks for the treatment of arthritis, once every 2 weeks for the treatment of SJIA, and once for the treatment of the CRS reaction). The doctor monitors the patient's symptoms for up to an hour after the injection.
